The modern concept of what we think of as a bound "book" today originated in the 1st - 2nd centuries AD, and books bound with flexible covers instead of wooden boards have been around for just as long. In this workshop, we will create our own "limp binding" book as we learn the basics of traditional bookbinding.

Objectives:

• Introduce basic bookbinding and book arts terms 

• Become familiar with traditional bookbinding tools

• Learn basic saddle stitch technique and utilize it to attach different page orientations

• Create a historically accurate limp bound note/sketch book for each student to take home
